Central Florida Queer Arts Initiative, Inc. is a Florida not-for-profit corporation formed on August 24, 2026 and governed by an independent board.
Mission
To expand public access to performing, visual, media, literary and interdisciplinary arts in Central Florida by commissioning and presenting artists, providing arts education and creative-career development, building cross-sector community partnerships, and preserving and amplifying LGBTQ+ and other historically underrepresented cultural voices.
What that means in practice
Artists get paid. Selection is documented – open calls, published criteria, review panels that include someone from outside the board. Programs happen at multiple venues, schools and community sites across Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake counties. Accessibility is paid for rather than hoped for: captioning, ASL interpretation, step-free venues and sliding-scale tickets are budget lines.

Four directors, all unpaid for governance service. The bylaws authorize between four and nine. A written conflict-of-interest policy is in force and every director files an annual disclosure.

The bylaws allow up to nine directors and we are at four. We are also looking for venue partners, an archivist or historian advisor for the oral history project, and volunteers.
